Welcome to BPS Library! 



Objectives:


1. To serve as a resource centre of the school and play a supporting role in the process of teaching and learning.
2. To assist students in making good use of the resources and facilities of the library and nurture their self-learning ability, in order to bring out the function of education beyond the school life.
3. To foster a good reading habit among students and arouse their interest in knowledge of various kinds. To broaden their horizons and cultivate their personality with the aim of encouraging them to establish appropriate goals and values.



Rules and Regulations:


1.        Opening Hours


 School Days : 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 


2.        Borrowing and Returning of Library Materials


a.        S1-S5 students are allowed to borrow 6 library materials (including back issue of magazines), 1 ERP book and 1 QEF Science book each time upon presenting the student ID card.


b.        S6-S7 students are allowed to borrow 7 library materials (including back issue of magazines), 1 ERP book and 1 QEF Science book each time upon presenting the student ID card.


c.        The loan period and renewal period are two weeks. The renewal period is valid only if the library materials have not been reserved by another student.


d.        Reference and past exam papers ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE BORROWED for home reading. Students who wish to read past exam papers should fill in the request form and hand it in with student ID card to the school librarian. Each student may borrow only 1 past exam book of her form each time for reference only.


e.        Library materials to be taken away on loan must be presented for stamping.


3.        Penalty


a.        If library materials are not returned on their due date, a fine of $1 per day per item will be charged. (Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays are exclusive.) Students must pay the EXACT fine.


b.        Any loss or damage of books should be reported to the school librarian immediately.  The school librarian reserves the right to charge the borrower for any damage/loss.


4.        Proper Behavior to be Observed


a.        Students are not allowed to bring in any books (except those for return) into the library. School bags must be put on the designated shelves at the entrance. All personal property like plastic bags and water bottles (except for purses) should be put on the designated shelves at the entrance.


b.        Silence must be maintained in the library at all times.


c.        Sleeping, chattering, playing and group discussion are not permitted in the library.


d.        Eating or drinking inside the library is not allowed.


e.        Students should put back the library materials in their proper places after reading.


f.          Students should put back the chairs, switch off the computers, and throw away any rubbish before leaving the library. 


5.        Use of Photo-copier


a.        Students should ask for the permission of the school librarian if they need to use the photo-copier. 


b.        Students who use the photo-copier should pay for it by Octopus Card.


c.        Regulations on the use of photo-copier in the library are posted on the library notice-board. These are to be followed strictly.


6.        Use of Computers


a.        Students who wish to use the computer should fill in the Computer Record Book.


b.        Students should use of the computers to search for useful information on the Internet only.


c.        Students should not use the computers for Facebook, MSN, computer games or search for information on movie stars.


d.        A group of 3 students at most should work on one computer.


e.        In case of any breakdown or failure of the computer, students should inform the school librarian at once.


f.          Regulations on the use of computer in the library are posted on the library notice-board. These are to be followed strictly.


7.        Others


a.        When a student terminates her studies at school, she must return all library materials to the library.
